Welcome To Camp 8

Camp 8 is for 16-19 year old teens and you will have plenty of time to enjoy all that Anvil has to offer. Sports, outings, and themed events are mixed with enough freedom in the afternoons to hangout with each other, soak in the Anvil environment and contemplate the spiritual teachings in the Chapel times.  We intentionally create space for interactions with each other, which is different from the junior teens camp experience.

A Letter from your 2020 Camp 8 Director, Margot

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…” – Proverbs 3:5

This verse in the Bible has been playing on repeat in my mind over the past few months. As I journey with Jesus, I see over and over again how as I choose to trust Him with things that I don’t understand, He is so faithful to me. He surrounds me with His presence, He brings calm to my heart and mind, and He makes the things that can seem overwhelming, fade away.

It is sad that we cannot all be together on Anvil for camp 8 2020, let’s be honest, sad doesn’t even touch how I feel about not being able to be there with you all. I will miss seeing all of your sleepy faces at the flagpole every morning as we line up for breakfast. I will miss seeing everyone enjoying the amazing food that our kitchen team so lovingly prepares for us. I will miss seeing everyone make their way up the hill in their team colors to the upper field to participate in whatever crazy and creative event our program team has come up with! I will miss hearing our nurses reminding us to “wash your hands, drink water, put on sunscreen” to name just a few of the ways they look after us! I’ll miss seeing how God so lovingly blesses us with new friendships and deepens our old friendships. I’ll miss watching in wonder and awe at how God shows up in so many special and unique ways in Chapel, as we learn from His Word and worship Him together.

So, to all you amazing campers of Camp 8, 2020, from all of us camp 8 staff, please know that YOU will be missed this year. Please know that we haven’t forgotten about you and that we continue to pray for you all even though we won’t be together this year.

Please consider this your official invitation to join us on Instagram @anvil.camp8 for some fun little things we have planned for Camp 8 2020- Online Edition! If you have any questions or comments please feel free to email them to and you’ll be sure to get a response! In the meantime, can I draw you back to the verse I opened with?

I first heard Proverbs 3:5 when I was a camper at Anvil at 8 years old. Anvil is where I decided at the tender age of 8 to trust the Lord with my whole heart and follow Him all the days of my life. This is a decision I have never regretted, especially in the moments of confusion, doubt, sadness and frustration that come as we live life. Our prayer for you as a staff is that even though we can’t be together on the island this year, that you would know that there is a God in heaven who knows you, who sees you and desires very much for you to trust Him with your whole heart and to lean not on your own understanding.

Choose to trust Him, take time to be with Him, take time to hear from Him. And maybe, you’re reading this and you have NO idea or desire to know about God- this is all ok! The challenge to you would be this- simply ask Him to show you where He is right now in the midst of your life- you might be surprised! And really, you’ve got nothing to lose!

Take care Camp 8 campers. May each of you know how incredibly special you are to us!
