It’s hard to believe that this year is drawing to an end and that Christmas is five days away.  We have had such a wonderful year at Daybreak Point Bible Camp and we are SO excited for everything that 2018 will be bringing – including our new Staff Building!

We hope that you are able to take the time to reflect on your own 2017 and spend time with the people you love this year.  Thank you for being part of Camp up at Daybreak and we hope you are excited to join us in 2018!  Our registration is going live for Campers on January 15, 2018 and we will be heading to Missions Fest the last weekend in January, so make sure you come on by and visit with us in person that weekend!

There will also be a few changes for a little bit on the admin side of things.  Our administrator, Shannon, is expecting her first child – a baby girl who is due in January!  Everyone at Daybreak is super excited to meet this new little one, but it also means that Shannon will be taking some time away from the office after baby is born.  While Shannon is on her maternity leave, Kayla Elderton will be stepping into the admin role to assist you!  We will have her do a post to introduce herself soon, so make sure you say hi in 2018 to Kayla!

Christmas is such a beautiful time.  Right now Vancouver has a lovely blanket of snow and a special stillness is there in the evenings and mornings (not so much on the commutes, but that’s another story).  On Anvil Island the camp is still and quiet as well, waiting for the rush of campers and staff to come next summer.  Please keep Kent and his family in your thoughts and prayers as they winter at Anvil along with the Camp and our neighbors.

At this time of year we can use these still and quiet times to reflect on the birth of Jesus.  At Daybreak, our mission is to share the love and message of Jesus Christ with the campers who come to Anvil Island.  We are to act out the love and care that He showed to us all when He came to earth as a baby.  During this Christmas season it’s good to remember both the birth of Jesus and His ultimate sacrifice for us on the Cross:

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor,
Mighty God,
Everlasting Father,
Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6
For God so loved the world that He gave his one and only Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16

Thank you for all your support and care for Daybreak.  We wish you a wonderful Christmas season and a Happy New Year in 2018!
