WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT ANVIL CAMP AND STAFF?
Summer 2012 is rapidly approaching, and we couldn't be more excited! Each week a fresh staff of 85 and 100 crazy campers leave Coal Harbour in Downtown Vancouver to cruise up beautiful Howe Sound on one of BC's largest charter vessels: Britannia. The journey itself is incredible as staff and campers get to know one another over the two hour ride. The camp director is different for each week and he or she is fully in charge of their camp, staff and campers. Each camp director is a Daybreak seasoned veteran, is over 25 years of age and has an assistant director of that age or older. All staff are criminal reference checked and trained thoroughly in camper and vulnerable person protection. The majority of our staff are returning to Anvil Island for a 2nd, 3rd or even 10th year, so they know safety protocols inside and out as well as other important camp procedures. The cabins consist of 10 campers and 2 counsellors. On the waterfront are 4 certified lifeguards. Every week there is one designated nurse or doctor and several first aid responders.
