Welcome to the BRAND NEW Anvil Blog!  We are going to have tons of information and updates for you, some guest posters and lots of fun summer content.  For our first blog, we have some pretty exciting news… we are hiring!  We are so excited to be posting for our new summer staff this summer.  We are very fortunate in having Kristy Simonson back as our head guard again this year.  Nathan Carabetta is coming back on Staff as our Assistant Guard and we are thrilled to have him back.

We have some exciting news about who will be our new Office Help and Caretaker help, but that is for another post! 🙂

Now, onto the actual posts!  We are looking for a Boat Driver, a Canteen Coordinator and two Lifeguards.

Canteen Coordinator

 

 

Job Description:
Job includes canteen product ordering, sales, daily stocking and maintenance of camp and canteen facility. The ordering and supplying of goods to the canteen requires an ability to shop or organize shopping and delivery or pick up of product from suppliers such as Costco. These activities occur at varied times of day, which will requires the canteen manager to stay at the camp for the entire employment period, except for regular scheduled days off. The canteen manager is expected to work approximately 8 hours per day. In addition to canteen duties, the canteen manager will be responsible for weekly kitchen inventory, compiling and sending email reports, communicating with the kitchen, liaison on the mainland, safety and cabin checks, waterfront camper tracking, canteen machine maintenance and other duties as assigned by the summer staff supervisor.

Qualifications:

a.                       Organizational Skills

b.                       General Computer Skills

c.                       Fluency in Microsoft Excel

d.                       Good Work ethic

e.                       Positive attitude

f.                        Experience handling money

g.                       Able to lift heavy boxes

h.                       Completed Criminal Record Check

In addition, it would be beneficial if the applicant were to have experience in a camp setting and/or experience working with children and youth.

Compensation (per week includes room and board):  $434 (based on experience).

Lifegaurd #1

 

 

Job Description:

Job includes lifeguarding activities on the oceanfront, for campers and staff of all ages throughout the summer.  Supervision is required for water sports (wake boarding/water skiing etc.), swimming and boating. These activities occur at varied times of day, which will requires life guarding staff to stay at the camp for the entire employment period, except for regular scheduled days off. In addition to waterfront duties, all guards, as summer staff, will be responsible for weekly inventory, safety and cabin checks, and some camp maintenance and other duties as assigned.  The head guard will have summer staff oversight responsibilities and will be the primary contact for camp directors as they coordinate program scheduling.

Qualifications:

Life guarding experience with the following qualifications:

a.                       Bronze Medallion

b.                       Bronze Cross

c.                       National Lifesaving Service Award

d.                       Valid CPR certification (Level C)

e.                       Valid First Aid certification*

f.                        Completed Criminal Record Check

In addition, it would be beneficial if the applicant were to have experience in a camp setting and/or experience working with children and youth.

Boat Driver/Maintenance Worker

 

Job Description:

Job includes driving the speedboat, working with the waterfront staff, and interacting with campers and staff of all ages throughout the summer.  Operation of the boat is required for water sports (wake boarding/water skiing etc.), and transportation. These activities occur at varied times of day, which will require the boat driver to stay at the camp for the entire employment period, except for regular scheduled days off. In addition to boat operation duties, the boat driver/summer staff employee is responsible for all equipment (skis, ropes, tubes etc.) repair and weekly inventory, safety checks, and maintenance.  The ski boat driver may also operate the Warrior vessel with up to 6 passengers.  He/she will also be assigned general camp maintenance duties by the caretaker. The boat driver/maintenance worker is required to work 40 hours a week.

Qualifications:

Boating experience

Minimum 18 years of age by contract start date

Valid B.C. Driver’s License

Safe Boaters Certificate  (Pleasure Craft Operator’s Card)

Basic First Aid certification*

Completed Criminal Record Check

In addition, it would be beneficial if the applicant were to have experience in a camp setting, working with children and youth and be familiar with water-sport activities and general maintenance.

Compensation (per week includes room and board):  $500 (based on experience).

Start Date: June 26, 2017

End Date: September 4, 2017
