ABOUT ANVIL

Learn more about the history of Daybreak Point Bible Camp on Anvil Island, as well as our member churches, board members and our mission to serve.

Our Mission

Our mission is to encourage campers to encounter the love and life of Jesus Christ through:

• Christ-centred teaching and programs
• Christian Community
• Personal relationships
• A safe and fun camp experience

The Board

The Board is a Volunteer Committee that meets once a month (year round) and is composed of elected representatives.  The Board is made up eight individuals and includes our Chairman (Terry Carabetta), Vice-Chair( David Jones), Treasurer (Blake Henley), Secretary (Mackenzie Saip) and three members at large (James Copp, Taryne Hagan and Ajay Martin). In addition we have a variety of other committees including: the Sessions Committee, the Facilities Oversight Committee, the Human Resources Committee, and the Director’s Nominating Committee.

Our Members

Daybreak Point Bible Camp is a stand alone society which is supported financially, and spiritually through the tireless efforts of member churches, individual donors, and many volunteers. The Member Churches each select one representative who attends meetings and agree to uphold the principles, mission, and beliefs of Daybreak Point Bible Camp. Furthermore, the member churches contribute financially, provide volunteers and promote the Camp.

Community Partners

The fabric of Daybreak Point Bible Camp goes far beyond just the people that attend a camp each summer. We are fortunate enough to have some incredible Community Partners , and we consider ourselves fortunate enough to affiliate ourselves with them. They are, in no particular order: The 604Network (formerly the Chapel Movement), The Union Gospel Mission, Columbia Bible College, KidsWorld  and Youth Unlimited.

The Leading Peak Hike

The Leading Peak trailhead is located on Daybreak Point Bible Camp’s property. The Camp is closed to the public except for the prearranged, escorted walk-through (from March-June and September-October) of hikers by our Caretaker staff for the purpose of doing the hike. If you would like to arrange access through Daybreak’s property to do the Leading Peak Hike, please contact the office and we will send you the required waiver form for accessing the trailhead. Our arrival windows for access to cross our property are 9:00-10:00 am and 3:00-4:00 pm. At this time we are not able to provide moorage. There is a suggested donation of $25 per group, but it is not mandatory. The large majority of the trail, and Leading Peak itself, is on Crown Land. We are not campsite operators and there is no campsite set up at the Leading Peak. We cannot authorize or manage requests for camping on Crown Land. We are able to provide trailhead access only at this time on a first come, first serve basis. Our other facilities (washrooms, cabins, picnic tables, kitchen, etc.) are not available for use.

Trailhead access is not permitted through July through Labour Day while our summer camps are in session.
Thank you for your understanding!

Anvil Work Party Volunteers and Projects

Many hands make light work and this dedicated group of volunteers continues to do Kingdom work in a practical way that facilitates the plans that God has in store for Anvil Island during its summer season.  We not only endeavour to maintain good aesthetics and proper working order but take on new projects that will elevate the camp experience.

All this is done by our dedicated volunteers (led by our Caretaker Kent) and we have two main opportunities to serve.

  • Our Spring Work Party runs mid to late April and provides tasks such as cleaning up from the winter storms, get buildings prepared for spring use and general camp maintenance (thoroughly cleaning cabins, painting, etc.).  We also use this time to tackle a long list of repair work that the camp requires as well as take on new projects and
  • Our Fall Work Party runs late September – Early October and provides tasks such as closing down the buildings and general camp maintenance. We again, use this time to continue tackling our long list of repair work and new projects.

If you have a joyful heart for serving others in a practical way, in addition to kitchen/dish pit skills, general labour skills, handy-person skills or are a professional trades person, we would love for you to join us for part or all of the 5 days at a Work Party.  Old or young, male or female, we would love to hear from you as we grow our community.

Specific Needs:
1. Landscape designer for tree planting purposes
2. Construction lead during work parties
3. Water monitoring software specialist (designs computer systems and writes “real time” software for monitoring hardware)
4. Plumber (to learn our systems – succession planning)
5. Electrical engineer or someone with experience in solar panel and overall power needs (to work on current and future needs – succession planning

Please contact us to get more detailed information about this needs. We could love prayer in this area that God would bring the right people into this ministry.

Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms … If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever.  Amen. 1 Peter 4: 10 and 11b (NIV)
