Serving at Anvil
Thank you for your interest in serving at Daybreak Point Bible Camp on Anvil Island this year! To serve at camp this summer you must first apply to be a staff member by completing the below staff application. After you have received confirmation from the director that you are on staff then you can fully register as a staff member for Daybreak. If you register without receiving approval from the director first your registration will be cancelled.
The Director must have enough time to review your application and the office to make sure everything is processed properly. If you are unsure as to which camp would be the best fit for you please contact the office.
If you have never been up to Camp before as a staff member, or just need a refresher, please take a minute to review Daybreak’s general camp rules and information here.
Lasting Memories
Volunteering at Anvil Island is more than helping out. It is being part of something that leaves a lasting impact on both campers and volunteers.
Everything we do is rooted in our Mission to encourage campers to encounter the love and life of Jesus Christ. Our Statement of Faith guides how we serve, lead, and care for every camper who comes to the island.
Serving means showing up, building relationships, and creating moments that matter. Whether it is leading a cabin, supporting a team, or connecting one on one, these moments often stay with campers long after camp ends.
Many volunteers return year after year because of the impact Anvil has on them. It becomes a place they want their kids, family, and friends to experience.
The memories made here last far beyond one week.
Volunteer Job Descriptions
Camp Leadership
The Senior Leadership team at Daybreak Point Bible Camp, consisting of the Director and Assistant Director, provides year-round oversight and guidance for all aspects of camp ministry. They meet monthly with the full camp leadership team and multiple times per month with their core leadership team to plan programs, chapels, and overall camp operations. These leaders are responsible for recruiting, screening, and supporting staff, ensuring that all references and criminal record checks (CRCs) are completed, and that staff remain spiritually strong and actively connected to a local church throughout the year.
On-site, they oversee all situations at camp, collaborating with team members to ensure every area runs smoothly and safely. Directors and Assistant Directors themselves are carefully vetted, with interviews, references, and CRCs completed before taking on their role. As servant-hearted leaders, they model Christ-centered leadership, shepherding both campers and staff, and guiding the entire camp community with vision, care, and a consistently high level of integrity in all decisions and interactions.

Kitchen Team
Kitchen Staff at Daybreak Point Bible Camp on Anvil Island play an essential role in creating a positive and welcoming camp experience by preparing and serving three daily meals and a snack for campers and staff. Working closely with the Head Cook, they assist with food preparation, cooking, baking, and meal service while also helping review menus, follow prep schedules, manage inventory, and accommodate special diets and allergies.
Staff maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen, adhere to food safety standards, and ensure efficient use of supplies, all while communicating clearly and working collaboratively with the team. They are expected to carry out their responsibilities with a high level of integrity, demonstrating honesty, accountability, and care in food handling, teamwork, and stewardship of resources.
In addition to kitchen duties, they contribute to the camp community through teamwork, encouragement, and participation in daily devotions and prayer. This physically demanding role requires long hours on your feet, flexibility in a fast-paced environment, and the ability to lift heavy pots, pans, and supplies (up to 50 lbs), along with a positive, servant-hearted attitude.
Cabin Leaders
Cabin Leaders at Daybreak Point Bible Camp on Anvil Island are at the heart of the camp experience, living alongside campers and providing 24/7 care, leadership, and support. They build meaningful relationships by creating a safe, inclusive, and encouraging cabin environment, while guiding campers through daily activities with energy and enthusiasm.
Cabin Leaders model positive behavior and faith in action, support campers’ spiritual growth through conversation and prayer, and navigate group dynamics with sensitivity and care. They are expected to lead with a high level of integrity, consistently demonstrating honesty, responsibility, and Christ-like character in both their words and actions.
Working closely with other staff, they help uphold camp values and ensure each camper feels known and valued. This is a high-impact, front-line role that requires maturity, strong communication, emotional awareness, and a servant-hearted attitude, along with the physical energy and spiritual attentiveness needed to fully engage in the demands and rewards of camp life.
Service or Encouragement Team
The Service & Encouragement Teams play a vital role in supporting the life and flow of camp throughout the week. Team members are flexible, joyful, and ready to serve wherever needed—whether stepping in to assist a cabin when a leader needs a break or is unavailable, providing extra hands in the kitchen, work crew, or program areas, or energizing campers during games and activities.
A key part of this role is praying daily for campers and staff, offering one-on-one support to campers as needed, and helping create a welcoming, encouraging environment for everyone at camp. Team members are expected to serve with a high level of integrity, faithfully following through on responsibilities and demonstrating genuine care, humility, and encouragement in all interactions.
They meet daily for devotion and prayer, seeking out opportunities to serve and intentionally uplift campers and staff. They may also surprise campers with small gifts or notes to keep them engaged, motivated, and reminded of God’s love throughout the week. This team is essential to fostering a supportive, spiritually enriching, and fun camp experience for all.
Chapel Team
The Chapel Team is made up of multiple roles including:
Tech/Media:
The Tech/Media team supports chapel by creating and running slides, managing sound, recording sessions, and troubleshooting audio-visual needs. This role requires calmness under pressure, attention to detail, the ability to work independently, and a high level of integrity to ensure each session runs smoothly and responsibly.
Photographer/Videographer (Optional):
Photographers and videographers capture the camp experience by actively engaging in activities and building rapport with campers while documenting key moments. This role requires strong time management, the ability to work independently, and a willingness to edit and deliver content quickly, often during late hours. Team members are expected to handle media with a high level of integrity, ensuring respectful, appropriate, and responsible representation of campers and staff at all times. They should be prepared to bring their own equipment and ensure all photos and videos are promptly shared with the camp office for distribution to families.
Worship Leader:
Worship Leaders guide the musical aspect of chapel by selecting songs, organizing practices, coordinating with the tech team, and mentoring others in worship roles. They are responsible for chapel equipment, ensuring it is cared for and ready for use, and must lead with a high level of integrity—spiritually, relationally, and practically—while remaining attentive to the movement of the Spirit with flexibility, wisdom, and grace.
Speaker:
Speakers play a key role in communicating the gospel by preparing and delivering engaging, Bible-based messages for chapel sessions. They connect with campers through clear teaching, relatable illustrations, and personal interaction outside of chapel, while also supporting cabin discussions by providing helpful questions or resources. They are expected to communicate and live out their message with a high level of integrity, demonstrating authenticity and faithfulness to Scripture.
Worship Team:
Worship Team members serve alongside their other camp responsibilities, using their musical gifts to lead others in worship. They come prepared both musically and spiritually, work within the camp schedule, bring and care for their instruments when applicable, and contribute to creating a meaningful and engaging worship environment, all while serving with a high level of integrity and teamwork.
Work Crew
The Work Crew at Daybreak Point Bible Camp is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and organized camp environment by supporting daily operations across all areas of the site. Duties include assisting with arrivals and departures (such as loading boats, transporting luggage, and preparing cabins), maintaining cleanliness in the dining hall, kitchen, dish pit, bathrooms, cabins, and outdoor spaces, and ensuring garbage, recycling, and supplies are managed properly.
Work Crew members also help with dishwashing, floor care, and sanitation throughout the day, respond to basic repair and upkeep needs, and support the kitchen team as required. They are expected to carry out all responsibilities with a high level of integrity, demonstrating diligence, reliability, and care in every task, whether seen or unseen.
Additional responsibilities may include assisting with transportation logistics (under designated supervision) and completing special projects assigned by the caretaker during available times.
Program / Sports Crew
Program Team Members at Daybreak Point Bible Camp on Anvil Island bring camp to life by planning and leading games, activities, and events that create fun, meaningful, and memorable experiences for every camper. Working closely with the Program Team Leader, they help run daily programming such as sports, morning exercises and swim times, cabin rotations, cabin activities, themed events, waterfront supervision, and large-scale “Big Events,” while also assisting with special elements like camp themes, decorations, and media.
Team members are responsible for setting up and taking down activities, helping lead hikes, facilitating games, and ensuring smooth transitions throughout the day, all while staying prepared, organized, and ready before campers wake up. They are expected to serve with a high level of integrity, demonstrating fairness, responsibility, and consistency in leadership and interactions with campers and staff.
They actively engage with campers by building relationships, encouraging participation, modeling positive behavior, and supporting the overall camp environment during meals, chapel, and free time, while also being available to assist other teams as needed. This role requires strong teamwork, communication, creativity, and adaptability, as well as the ability to work both independently and collaboratively—often behind the scenes—and to follow leadership while also taking initiative. Program Team Members should be prepared for long, physically demanding days that may require missing portions of camp activities to coordinate events, working hard, staying fully engaged, and lifting equipment and supplies (up to 50 lbs). Above all, this role calls for a positive, servant-hearted attitude and a desire to support both the fun and spiritual growth of campers and staff.
Staff Training Program (LIT/STP/SALT)
Daybreak Point Bible Camp’s Staff Training Program is a one-week immersive leadership experience designed for a select group of 10 participants who are eager to grow in their faith, character, and ability to serve. Throughout the week, trainees will be mentored by experienced camp leaders while actively participating in a wide range of camp roles, including kitchen duties, program support, work crew projects, and chapel involvement.
Each participant will have the opportunity to shadow seasoned staff, gaining hands-on experience and insight into effective ministry and teamwork. As a cohort, trainees will meet daily to review training materials, develop and share their personal testimonies, and reflect on their growth. They will also assist with cabin support and fully engage in all camp activities with energy and enthusiasm.
Participants are expected to approach this experience with a high level of integrity, demonstrating teachability, responsibility, and a commitment to growing in both character and faith. By the end of the program, participants will have a clearer understanding of where they feel called to serve, along with valuable feedback and encouragement from camp leadership to support their ongoing development.
At Daybreak Point Bible Camp, participants in a Staff Training Program are given specific titles depending on the session they attend. During Camp 1, trainees are known as SALTs (Servant and Leadership Training), reflecting their role in both learning leadership skills and serving the camp community. For Camps 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, and 9, they are referred to as LITs (Leaders in Training), emphasizing their growth and preparation for future leadership roles at camp. At Camp 7, participants are called STPs (Staff Training Program), highlighting their focused training experience in preparation for joining the camp staff. Regardless of the title, all trainees engage in the same comprehensive program of mentorship, hands-on experience, team reflection, and leadership development.

2. Criminal Record Check
» Every Staff 19 person and older must have a Criminal Record Check (CRC) on record before stepping on Anvil Island. There are no exceptions to this rule.
» You must do a new CRC every three years to serve and must serve consecutively (without taking a summer off) for the CRC to be valid for three years. For the first time serving you must do a new CRC that is dated the same year that you are serving. There are no exceptions to this rule.
» If you are a Canadian citizen the government of Canada has a free initiative to obtain your Criminal Record Check. Simply click here to be taken to the website and enter the code that was emailed to you in your confirmation email after you registered as staff. You will need your BC Services Card set up as a mobile card through the BC Government to complete your CRC online. All the steps required are outlined at the above address.
If you choose to complete your CRC in person at a police station, please print the below letter and take it to your local police station. Some municipalities require that your name is on the letter to receive the CRC. Therefore, please ensure that after you print the below letter that you fill your name in on the blank line, and take it to your local police station. Once completed you must then submit a photo or scan of your CRC to our office and bring the original copy to camp with you to give to your director.
For Delta Residents who need to do their CRC in person you must go to the Delta Police Information Check Website here and make an account. Please ensure you have a copy of your CRC Letter when you apply so that you can have the fee reduced from $75 to $15. Daybreak Point Bible Camp will reimburse you for the cost of your CRC – please reach out to our office for the paperwork to be reimbursed. Be very careful to select the “vulnerable sector” CRC option to ensure you get the correct CRC done. Once the CRC is done the Delta Police will contact you to pick it up and then you will need to send a photo to the office or the director and bring it with you to Camp so that the director can collect your original CRC to give to our office for filing.
» If you are coming to serve at Anvil this summer and come from a country other than Canada, please go to your local police station and request a CRC there. You must then submit a photo or scan of your CRC to our office and bring the original copy to camp with you to give to your director.
» Daybreak Point Bible Camp will not allow any individuals to be involved in the summer camping program without a valid CRC. Please begin the process immediately so as not to cause impediments to you serving at Daybreak.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact the Daybreak office immediately.
