Welcome To Camp 9

Camp 9 on Anvil Island is the finale to an amazing summer for any teenager ages 13 -16! Our staff work hard to create 7 days of adventure, authentic community and life long memories for young people. Some years we camp overnight at the peak or trek out to make campfires, most years our cabins make crazy talented videos, one time Santa came in a helicopter and every year we eat, like every 3 hours! At Camp 9 we are always looking for big impact in our activities and in the relationships we build on the island – all of which we do because we believe that Jesus loves it when we know and take care of each other.

Welcome To Camp 9

Each week brings about 75 volunteer staff dedicated to making this week an awesome experience for your child. Each camp has a Nurse or Doctor on staff, 4 certified lifeguards and 2 advanced first-aid attendants. The majority of our staff have served for many consecutive years and all have pre-camp training, criminal record checks and reference checks. A typical cabin has a Sr. Cabin Leader and a Junior Cabin Leader for 10 kids. We are committed to making this a safe, fun and loving environment for your child.

Meet the Director

Meet Andreas Russell – our Camp 9 Director!

Having moved from Austria at age 14, Andreas’ first week in Canada was at Anvil. It was quite the letdown when he found out that the rest of Canada wasn’t nearly as fun. Since then, Andreas has spent the past 15 summers serving at Anvil (and even at Keats for a couple of years) as Andreas firmly believes that these camps give teenagers a little taste of what heaven is like.

Andreas loves chatting about faith and life with anyone interested and is thankful for those opportunities with staff and campers during camp and  throughout the year. Andreas and his wife Hendrika live in Richmond and enjoy playing sports and board games together.
